Hello Fellow Aeromodellers
We’ve had an eventful month at the VMAA, with our treasurer and registrar both stepping down. Huge thanks to Arthur and Ben for their invaluable contributions. We’ve identified new candidates and hope to have them on board next week. If there is any registration issue, please send and email to the Secretary in the interim. Apologies for any delays in payments and memberships during this transition – we’ll be back on track soon.
There has been some great progress by the team since my last update.
- The new VMAA Facebook page and Instagram account are both up and running. Please send us your events and good news stories so we can post them. Facebook or Instagram vmaa_rc
- We have had numerous FW25 HMI applications submitted. David Law has run a preliminary inspector’s course utilising the evolving training package. If you qualify, please send in your application.
- The club promotional pamphlets are progressing with a draft version for BADMAC produced. It is hoped that this can be the loose template for all other clubs. The draft version can be viewed on our website. https://www.vmaa.com.au/club-brochures/
- VMAA Club Visits – The VMAA will recommence this activity with the first visit early in 2025. If you would like us to visit your club/area, please let us know so we can schedule one in. Great opportunity to talk with the committee and ask any questions you may have.

- Phil, our Webmaster, has been working tirelessly on the new website. VMAA | Victorian Model Aeronautical Association Here is Phil’s report:
The VMAA website is finally receiving a facelift and a major improvement in functionality and information. There is more to do over the coming weeks; however, we feel it is the ideal time to launch the new site.
The new-look site has an easy-to-navigate menu, with multiple options under most menu headers. The models featured on the website are from events in recent times. If you would like to see a particular model on the website, send us your picture and if it is suitable, it may get published.
The main functionality that we have added to the new VMAA website is:
1. Booking a state field form where the form goes directly to the club and a copy to the VMAA.
2. Calendar of Events – An interactive events listing where the club can add an event directly.
(Please note that this listing has the function to change the view to Calender view or day view).
3. Find a Club – An interactive map showing all clubs and filterable by club type, for example state fields. You can now add your club to the map, see the link in the members area. Feel free check out some of the other clubs to see how the information is presented before uploading your data.
4. Direct download of the VMAA grant/loan application forms.
The website will continue to evolve and develop to meet the needs of the members, affiliates, associations and other stakeholders.
Some of the future works include information about getting started in the sport, Training and wings and assessment, types of aeromodelling, running events and competitions, Model inspection information, insurance details, and how-to videos, just to name a few.
If you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to contact us.
Regards, Phil, Webmaster
Until next time, Safe flying
